The annual Ryan McLaughlin Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday, September 21st at Pleasant Valley Golfer’s Club. The tournament is held in memory of Ryan McLaughlin, who was an eighth-grader at Frost and lived on Colesbury Place when he lost his courageous battle against leukemia in 1999. The proceeds of the tournament will be donated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (through the Young Hearts "Light the Night" Team) in support of its mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers. The Young Hearts, a group of mostly teenagers from Mantua and surrounding neighborhoods, raise funds each year to fight leukemia. In 2005, eight year old Mantua resident and "Shining Star" of the Young Hearts, Cameron McClain, lost his fight with this dreadful disease.  Last year the team was stunned to learn that after being in remission for nine years, one of the original Young Hearts, 15 year old David McIntyre, is fighting leukemia for a second time.  A cure cannot be found too soon.  Please help us support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's quest for a cure.
